Jamie is a grade-school-age boy with a love of history, who unfortunately finds himself facing the wrong end of a bully's fist. He lives with his mum a widow, a lovely woman who misses her husband terribly. Jamie's curiosity, a library book, and his quest for adventure take him to the magical and mystical Lithia Library, which is run by a formidable and awful woman named Mrs Humbleweed, who traps him there.
