No one in his native village in Holland could have imagined Date to become a teacher. He hated school, failed miserably and schooling ended in grade four primary. He was fourteen years old and had seen enough of school. Yet after immigrating to Canada a different spirit awakened in his inner soul. It was back to school at age 22, but where would a 22 year old start? Certainly not in grade four! Progressive years later he earned an MA in Education at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC.
