"Folious Appearances" is a 1854 work by John Tupling that explores the way in which books are presented, looking in particular at the lettering and typography of personalised book covers. When thinking about customising or re-covering books, the author believes that considerations should be given to what the book is and who wrote it, and that it should be lettered accordingly.
