This paper makes a contribution to the strategic planning of investments in Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS), consolidating their basis and value for organizations today. To this end, this work proposes an approach to formulating and structuring investments through the strategic classification of IT and IS portfolio alternatives. The study model was applied to a company that makes periodic investments in the area.
