지금까지 톨카피얌을 해독하지 못한 이유는 그것이 한국어 문법에 의해 쓰여졌다는 것을 몰랐기 때문이다. 기존의 해독은 문법을 제시하지 않고, 개별적 단어의 뜻을 제시하지도 않으면서, 대충 문장이나 문단 단위로 의미를 추정하는 작업에 불과하였다. 추정자마다 추정하는 의미가 다른 것은 누구도 제대로 톨카피얌을 이해하지 못하였기 때문이다. 이 책은 문법과 개별 단어의 뜻을 밝힌 톨카피얌에 대한 최초의 과학적 해독이다. The reason Tolkāppiyam has not been deciphered until now is that people were unware it was written in Korean grammar. Previous attempts at deciphering were limited to rough estimations of meaning at the sentence or paragraph level, lacking detailed grammar and individual word meanings. The varied interpretations by different scholars result from the fact that no one has truly understood Tolkāppiyam. This book is the first scientific decipherment of Tolkāppiyam, which clarifies its grammar and the meanings of its individual words.
