Amaravathi sculpture, flourished in the Andhra region of south-eastern India from about the 2nd century BC to the end of the 3rd century AD, during the rule of the S?tav?hana dynasty. Amaravati was a seat of Buddhism prior to the rise of Satavahanas, and a stupa and monastery was built there during the reign of Emperor Ashoka (269-232 BC) under Mauryan empire.
